Defense alleged omissions in the decision that condemned the hairdresser

By unanimous vote, the First Chamber of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) denied this Friday, 13, the appeal of the hairdresser Débora Rodrigues dos Santos against the sentence of 14 years in prison for participation in the coup acts of January 8, 2023 and for vandalizing the phrase "Perdeu, mané" on the statue A Justiça, located in front of the Court's headquarters.

The defense appealed to the STF to allege omissions in the collegiate's decision. The lawyers mentioned that the two years in which the defendant was preventively imprisoned, the confession of having vandalized the monument, and a third of the sentence remission for hours of study, professional qualification courses, and reading books in prison were not deducted from the sentence time.

When analyzing the defense's arguments, the collegiate followed the vote of the rapporteur, Alexandre de Moraes, and denied the appeal. The virtual trial began last week and was finalized today.

"The clarifying statements that, under the pretext of remedying omissions in the embargoed judgment, reproduce mere nonconformity with the outcome of the judgment," decided Moraes.

The understanding was followed by ministers Flávio Dino, Cármen Lúcia, Cristiano Zanin, and Luiz Fux.

The hairdresser was convicted of the crimes of violent abolition of the Democratic State of Law, coup d'état, armed criminal association, qualified damage, and deterioration of the listed heritage.

In March of this year, Débora began to serve house arrest. According to the law, mothers with minor children can serve their sentences at home.

The hairdresser is the mother of two boys, one 10 years old and the other 12 years old.

The definitive prison sentence has not yet been executed.
